Hot
air Ballooning or Balloon sunrise has become one of the most
attractive flights for seeing sunrise over the Himalayas.
Usually flights begin shortly after dawn, when the winds are
their calmest. Once the balloon is full and all the systems
double-checked, the lines are let loose and the passenger
basket is carried up over the morning fog and into the
sun-lit skies. The balloon will float at about 1,200 to
1,500 m above the Valley, which will bring passengers close
to 3,000m! From this altitude, the entire Himalayan range
will be in sight -360 degrees of visibility is what the
balloon in the air offers, as well as fantastic downward
views of the Kathmandu Valley itself. This can be organised
through Parikrama Treks.
Rock Climbing
Nepal offers
some really terrific places for people who like crawling up
a vertical cliff like a jungle cat. If you don't have enough
time to take a Himalayan peak during the visit, you can jump
over numbers of stone walls guaranteed to keep you on your
toes, so why don't you try rock climbing and get grip on
things. Nagarjun hills and Shivapuri hills have some cliffs
waiting for you to climb them inside the Kathmandu valley
and Shreeban Rock Climbing Nature camp could provide you the
joy of Rock Climbing outside Kathmandu, on the Hill of
Siddha Lake - Dhading Nalang. You can find other cliffs
outside valley that also give the real joy of adventure.
Pony Trek
A full-length pony trek (short trek only) can also be
arranged. Pony treks are becoming increasingly popular.
Ponies can also be hired by the hour or longer in the places
like Pokhara, Nagarkot, Dhulikhel & Daman etc; Pony treks
provide a fascinating way to experience the mountains of
Nepal. For those, who cannot take the strain of daily hiking
and those who want respite on long treks, ponies are
available in some areas on hire.
Bungy Jumping

Less than a 3
hour drive outside Kathmandu and your are by the Ultimate
Bungy Shuttle. You will travel the Arniko (Kathmandu/Lhasa)
Highway to within 12km of the Tibet Border and the famous
Friendship Bridge (you can even make a day trip there for
lunch in Tibet). Ultimate Bungy Nepal takes place on a 166m
wide steel suspension bridge over the Bhoti Kosi River.
Swiss designed, especially for bungy jumping with a
4x-safety factor. The bridge has a loading factor of 250kg
per running meter. This program can also be joined with a 2
day exhilarating white water rafting trip on the Bhotekosi.
Nepal provides
the solitude and environment for meditation, which is
unparalleled in this part of the world. Nepal has much to
offer to those interested in meditation, yoga and Ayurveda.
There are guided and residential course for mediation and
yoga. Kopan Monastery offers short courses for
residential/non-residential in Buddhist meditation and
practice throughout the year. These courses give a
theoretical and practical introduction to Buddhist
philosophy of the Tibetan Mahayana Tradition. They are based
on one of the principal teachings of this tradition called
'The Graded Path to Enlightenment' (Lam Rim). The courses
combine lectures and teachings with meditation practice and
discussion of relevant topics in a more informal way. A
three-day retreat with intensive guided meditation on the
Graded Path to Enlightenment follows the course.
Paragliding is a
newly introduced adventure in Nepal. The main area for
flying in Nepal is the Annapurna region, more specifically
the Pokhara valley. This lakeside town is Nepal's second
"city", nestled at the foot of the Annapurna Himal, the
views commanded from here of 3 of the worlds 8000m peaks,
are unsurpassed. The microclimate of the valley makes it an
ideal area for flying, with far more constant conditions
than the Kathmandu valley 150km east. There are several
sites around Phewa Lake for flying and Sarangkot is the most
accessible. It is a viewpoint 700m above Pokhara, it is
unique in that it has a road running to the top. A short
walk brings you to the only purpose built take off in the
country. There are a variety of courses, which includes from
3 days to 3 weeks |
