20 days Arun & Makalu Barun Trek, Grade: Demanding
This
trek takes you to Makalu Base Camp (5250 m), now designated as Makalu Barun
National Park and Conservation Area. Mt.
Makalu (8463 m) is the fifth highest peak in the world. The Makalu Base camp
trek is a true adventure with scenery so beautiful that it will never tire you. The trek starts with a flight to Tumlingtar and heads up the
Aurn River valley to Sedua and Num, then crossing Shipton La Pass (4210 m) into
the upper Barun river valley for a close look at Makalu and Chamlang Himal.
This trek visits one of the most remote and unfrequented areas of Nepal.
The Barun valley is a part of a huge international protected area under
the agreement between the governments of Nepal and China, which comprises of
2330 sq. km of National Park and 830 sq. km of conservation area in Nepal alone.
The trek returns the same way and ends with a flight back to Kathmandu.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu. Transfer you to your

Fly to Tumlingtar. Trek to Khandbari.

Makalu Base Camp area.

On this day, we
cross Barun pass and camp below.

We slowly
retrace for camp at Khongpma.

Day 17: |
We stop at
Uttise for lunch and overnight at Nabhagaon.

Day 18: |
On this day, we
camp at Num village.
|
|
Day 19: |
Camp at Bhote pass.
|
|
Day 20: |
Camp at Khandbari.
|

Day 21: |
Khanbari to
Tumlingtar. |

Day 22: |
Fly back to Kathmandu. Transfer to the
Hotel.

In Kathmandu. If you are able to complete your trek in time then this day may be used for sight seeing around Kathmandu Valley or free for shopping
